UNESCO’s World Day for Cultural Diversity

UNESCO’s World Day for Cultural Diversity

Recently, the Lyceum had the honor of hosting esteemed representatives from the embassies of several countries — Belgium, Turkmenistan, Iran, Italy, Spain, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, and the Czech Republic.

During the visit, the Lyceum had the privilege of welcoming:
Ms. Cristina Conesa Sancho – Representative of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain
H.E. Mr. Eric De Muynck – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium
Ms. Neda Raeifipour – Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran
H.E. Mr. Muhammetgeldi Ayazov – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan
H.E. Mr. Petr Piruncik – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic
Mr. Ashot Galoyan – Attaché of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta
Mr. Carlo Anedda – Representative of the Embassy of the Italian Republic and Professor at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

The entire process of organizing the visit—from planning the program to its execution—was entrusted to the Lyceum students. They demonstrated a high level of initiative, organizational, and communication skills, ensuring a top-quality and multifaceted agenda.

The guests were welcomed by students in national costumes. Students of the Primary School performed Komitas’ “Shoror” dance, while students of the Middle School prepared a beautiful traditional Armenian hospitality table.
The guests met with the Head of the Educational Complex, Mr. Ashot Alikhanyan, and were introduced to the history of the Lyceum. Later, they participated in an open discussion held in the “Shirakatsy Talks” format, where the following speakers delivered presentations:
H.E. Mr. Eric De Muynck (Belgium) – “Innovation in Education”
Representative of the Embassy of Turkmenistan – “Turkmenistan’s Foreign Policy and Armenian-Turkmen Bilateral Relations”
Ms. Cristina Conesa Sancho (Spain) – “Cultural Diplomacy and Soft Power”

A highlight of the event was the dinner in the Lyceum’s cafeteria, where guests and students enjoyed traditional Armenian dishes together. The students had the unique opportunity to engage in direct conversations with experienced representatives of the diplomatic field, share their thoughts, receive valuable advice, and build meaningful connections.

The guests were deeply impressed by the students’ initiative, organization, and communication skills. Even days after the visit, the event continued to be a topic of discussion both within the Lyceum community and in diplomatic circles.

Such events are becoming a consistent and ongoing tradition at the Lyceum, reinforcing the interconnection between education, culture, and international cooperation, while fostering the development of students as future leaders and responsible global citizens.
